As the successor to the Alfa Romeo 1900, the Alfa Romeo 2000 was first unveiled at the 1957 Turin Motor Show. To meet customer demand for more power, Alfa Romeo developed the 2000’s four-cylinder engine into an elegant 2,584 cc inline six-cylinder. The Alfa Romeo 2600 retained the tried-and-tested bodywork of the 2000 series, but received visual updates and significantly more power. The Bertone 2600 Sprint in particular is regarded as one of the most beautiful coupés of its era – designed by Giorgio Giugiaro as his first project as Bertone’s chief designer.
