High-quality spare parts for the Alfa Romeo 1900 – Berlina, Sprint and Cabriolet (1950–1959)
The Alfa Romeo 1900 is a milestone in the company’s history: as the first post-war model, the first vehicle to roll off the production line and the first Alfa Romeo with a monocoque body, it ushered in a new era for the brand. At the same time, its engine laid the technical foundations for the later successful models, the Giulietta and Giulia. At myalfagroup, you will find high-quality Alfa Romeo 1900 spare parts for the Berlina, Sprint and Cabriolet.
The history of the Alfa Romeo 1900
In October 1950, Alfa Romeo unveiled the Alfa Romeo 1900 Berlina at the Paris Motor Show – designed by Orazio Satta Puliga, the man who would later create the Giulia. Contemporary advertising aptly proclaimed: “la berlina che vince le corse” – the saloon that wins races. And that was hardly an exaggeration: the Berlina reached an impressive 160 to 170 km/h, while the sporty ti Super even hit 180 km/h. In 1954, the Alfa Romeo 1900 Super followed, a bored-out version with increased displacement and power.
The model variants of the Alfa Romeo 1900
In addition to the Berlina, the Alfa Romeo 1900 range included a series of elegant special-body models by renowned designers:
- Alfa Romeo 1900 Berlina (1950–1959): Four-door saloon, 1,884–1,975 cc, 59–85 kW – 17,390 units in total
- Alfa Romeo 1900 Super (from 1954): Bore-up version with 1,975 cc and up to 85 kW (115 hp)
- Alfa Romeo 1900 ti / ti Super: The most powerful Berlina versions for sporty drivers
- Alfa Romeo 1900 C Sprint (Touring): Elegant two-door coupé on a shortened chassis, built by Carrozzeria Touring – 1,808 units in total
- Alfa Romeo 1900 Cabriolet: Open-top variants by Touring, Pininfarina, Zagato and Ghia
- Alfa Romeo 1900 Lunga: Rare version with extended wheelbase for ceremonial purposes
The technology of the Alfa Romeo 1900 – the basis for a generation of engines
The four-cylinder engine of the Alfa Romeo 1900, newly developed by Giuseppe Busso, was far ahead of its time: two overhead camshafts (DOHC), chain-driven, ensured high revs and sporty performance. This engine formed the direct basis for the later powertrains of the Giulietta and Giulia series – a technical legacy that shaped the entire post-war history of Alfa Romeo.
